Rules of Application for Foliar Nutrients and Biostimulants
Time of day (very important):
Always apply foliar nutrients in the morning after dew is mostly gone and before 10ish. Apply after sunset if morning not possible. Those timeframes are when the stomata on your plant or grass is more open to absorb nutrients.
Working around rain:
It’s completely absorbed within 6 hours, so you don’t want rain within 6 hours after applying. Other than that, no necessary timing around rain. If it’s been dry for weeks, wait until shortly after you do get enough moisture to start seeing some green-up.
Spray Tips: Broadcast spray or use fan tips.
Water rate:
Ideal rate for applying 15-10-5 is 10-12 gallons per acre. Ideal rate for applying both Organic and 15-10-5 together, shoot for 15 gal/acre. Ideal rate when applying Organic or C&C alone is 20-30 gallons of water per acre.
NOTE: These are “ideal” rates, but there is flexibility on this depending on your sprayer set-up. Just ask if the rate you spray at normally will work.
Surfactant required:
Include a surfactant with 15-10-5. We recommend and offer SurTec* but any non-ionic surfactant with acidification properties is fine. Organic has its own surfactant.
Incompatible Herbicides:
Herbicides with 2,4-D except Lv6 are NOT tank-mix compatible with 15-10-5. They can be applied separately. We recommend and offer DuraCor* or any non-2,4D herbicide will mix fine. Organic is compatible with all herbicides we know of. (always bench-test)
SHAKE WELL: Shake those jugs like a paint can (especially Organic) before measuring off or adding to water. Shake the Organic and C&C extra vigorously. Laying the jug on sides and top for a few minutes each prior to shaking helps a lot. Very important nutrients will settle that need to be resuspended to get maximum benefits.
Organic jugs will swell up over time, so open vent cap to release gasses as needed.
How to tank mix:
1. Fill tank 1/3 to 1/2 full of clean water.
2. Mix in surfactant alone first, then add nutrients, and finally your herbicide.
3. Agitate well. (if no agitator on your sprayer, stir with a 2x4 or paint mixer on a drill)
4. Fill with remaining water and agitate again.
Mix without herbicide will remain viable in your tank for several days. Always agitate before each use. Mix with herbicide should be applied right after mixing. Then empty tank and rinse well right after application.
